Early History of Samla Temple

Samla derives its name by taking the name of our Shrine (Almas) and spelling it backwards.
Our first Queen in 1929 was Susan Sharp (pictured below).
Florence K. Lee (pictured below) served as our Queen in 1931, and later served as Supreme Queen in 1937. She is the only Past Queen from Samla to ever serve as Supreme Queen. She wrote Samla's closing ode (a song to be sung at the end of our meetings). We still sing it at the close of every Session almost 80 years later.
